fermented compost
fermented composting
Composting of organic resources and farm by-products is extremely important as it impacts on the future sustainability of agriculture. Conventional farming played an important role in improving food productivity to meet human demands by the environment has paid a huge cost in degraded soils and waterways. Composting is nature’s way of recycling nutrients and carbon to improve soil quality and productive capacity.
We ferment organic waste and turn it into our valuable fertilizers. We ferment ingredients from local piggeries, feedlots, sawmills, citrus farms, potato farms & saw mills. This allows us to keep costs down in our products along with using all this otherwise wasted material into soil rejuvenation.
Ag-Plus have been composting now for 16 years and have a wealth of experience in this field. Having experienced both methods of composting the fermentation approach is far and above the most efficient technique that I have seen. We have growers also doing their own composting on farm making use of their own organic wastes and farm by-products. If this is of interest please contact us to help you through this process.

We use the fermentation composting techniques developed by Austrian based company Multikraft Probiotic microbial consortium. This process provides three key advantages:
- The use of Multikraft Micro-organisms in the compost provides uniform decomposition within the compost heap. The process completely suppresses unpleasant smells and toxic metabolic by-products, while producing valuable exudates including vitamins and bioactive substances.
- Labour-saving: it is no longer necessary to frequently turn a compost heap to maintain aerobic conditions during composting, as it now ferments anaerobically into a stable humus.
- The nutrients, and especially the nitrogen, are retained in the Multikraft Compost and are not lost as greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The nitrogen is mainly locked in with organic bonds, i.e. relatively little is mineralised and so more nutrients are retained in the soil.
Benefits of Multikraft Compost
Compost is the end product of the fermentation of various biogenic wastes and with the help of Multikraft Micro-organisms, our compost matures anaerobically, it is not ventilated. Multikraft Compost when added to the soil promotes the microbial activity, invigorating the physical, chemical and biological condition of the soil to improve yield and quality of the harvest.

- The health and fertility of the soil is promoted
- The development of the humus (formation of the clay-humus complex) is increased
- Biological activity of the soil is revitalised
- Root growth is stimulated
- The resistance of the plants to disease is increased
- Fruit matures more evenly
- Plants and/or fruits contain more antioxidants and bioactive substances such as vitamins, trace elements, etc.
- The harvest can be stored for longer
- Multikraft Compost
- Fermented
- Anaerobic
- Ready in 6-8 weeks
- Turning only necessary when additional material is added or when the substances are too dry or too moist
- The germination capacity of all seeds is suppressed by fermentation
- Minimal release of odours
- No loss of nutrients by constant oxygenation
- Regular Compost
- Aerobic
- Ready in 12+ weeks
- Overheats easily, requires frequent turning and the addition of water
- A large number of the valuable materials are lost in the atmosphere due to repetitive turning
- High temperature kills seeds but is difficult to control
- Odour problems with some raw materials and during turning
- The organic substances oxidise due to high temperature
