Soil Scientist
My passion for agriculture already started at a very young age growing up in a broadacre farming community in a very small farming town in the North-Eastern region of South Africa. I later on then completed my Bachelors degree in Geology with a honors in Soil Science from the University of Pretoria. My career in agriculture started immediately after university where I started working as a soil scientist for a precision ag company doing soil mapping and surveying across various projects in Southern Africa, USA and Australia. In 2021 I decided to permanently make my move to Australia starting my journey in the Atherton Tablelands. As an agronomist I spend most of my time in horticulture, focusing on the sustainable production of Avocados, Limes, Lemons and Mangoes.I decided to join the dynamic team at Ag-Plus at the beginning of 2024 as an agronomist where I’ll continue spending my time in the horticultural sector, but not limited to, as we have a wonderful variety of crops grown in the area. Coming from a soil science background I see the soil as the foundation of everything we do and all the results we see above ground. Thus following an integrated approach between soil physical, chemical and biological practices is key to ensure optimal results above ground. I’m very excited to share my knowledge and experience with growers in our region and at the same time learning from my fellow colleagues and growers in the region. Sharing our knowledge and working together is a key factor to ensure premium Australian quality produce and give Australian agriculture an unforgettable name globally.
